Photo editing

I saw a good deal on Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 during Black Friday sales back in November and decided to take the plunge, but hadn’t had a chance to sit down and learn how to use it properly. So the last few days I’ve been spending some time working my way through The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book for Digital Photographers. The above is a photo I took back in 2010 and tweaked in Lightroom. I’m actually very impressed with the program’s capabilities. It’s amazing what a little work can do to really enhance a photo. Here’s a link to this same photo that I had posted on flickr, (admittedly yes, processed) but I feel like this Lightroom version is a lot more natural looking, not quite a punchy.

  1. I’ve never used Lightroom. Did you try and achieve the same thing with photoshop?
what’s the major differences between the programs?

  2. Well for starters Lightroom is a lot more affordable than Photoshop! Basically LR is for photo processing only, whereas you can use Photoshop for graphics too, so it does have more features. Lightroom is also an amazing photo organizing and cataloging tool. I really like it and wish I’d gotten it sooner!
